Ending the Day With a Swim

For some strange reason Scott and I got off to a rough start this morning. We left almost 2 hours later than we usually do and Scott was starting off with a wicked slow pace. Must of been the expensive bike repair he had done. I won’t say how much but it was more than double what we have been charged at other bike shops. This I think brought our spirits slightly down, but by the end of the day we are feeling back to normal.

We rode from Kerrville to Blanco today for a total of 60 miles and we were in the saddle for 6 hours 37 minutes, I think that this is pretty good timing. We ended up getting to Blanco State Park at 4:35 pm and purchased our site for the night. We did, however, succumb to the DQ across the street, 60 miles, I felt like we deserved a treat.

Blanco State Park is really nice. The swimming hole is better than Lost Maples and at this site we have electricity, internet, water, picnic shelter (at the site) and shower/bathrooms. It is a very nice park. One of the ways I know the swimming hole is better than Lost Maples, is that Scott got into the water and swam across the river with me (about 25 yards). The water was cool, but really refreshing, after our swim we went to the playground and swung on the swings, maybe it was to help dry our now soaking wet bike cloths, but I think it’s because I am a big kid at heart.

Other good news is we passed a west bounder today and he informed us we are about 100 miles away from flat land! Don’t get me wrong, the hills are fun, but 60 miles of them are pretty tiring.
